Roles and reversals...

MrD is back tonight from the two week trip to Vancouver...

Kindo feel like i feel like i've made so much headway with getting on with K and O and the house that having him back will be a weird dynamic... guess it always is and that is how he feels when i come over (particularly when i am more than slightly opinionated about stuff). I've done this before but never really experienced it as a 'walk a mile in my shoes' type undertaking. I'm aware that none of us is perfect and thats ok (i knew all this already but haven't really thought about), we're all just doing great and screwing up different and am really overwhelmed by just how great the kids are. The things that bug me are little things and the fact that they are both healthy and intelligent and interested and polite and respectful is pretty good going... yes they don't read books , they are messy in their rooms (their choice i guess), they use mad amounts of washing up liquid, they leave electrical appliances on like global warming is an urban myth but they are trying their best to find a way through a funny family set-up and a world which has got be pretty damn confusing...

So, here's to some of my many roles... counter balancer to other people's strengths and weaknesses, carer for other people (big and little), maker of good food, watcher of good TV and bad...
